RRUK Researchers from the University of Southampton have been awarded with the IMechE Thomas Hawksley Gold Medal 2007 for a paper published in a special RRUK edition of the IMechE Journal of Rail and Rapid Transit (Volume 221, March 2007).

| MMU Researchers work with Hitachi on safety and efficiency | 03 September, 2007 |
High-tech giant Hitachi has called in MMU engineers to assist in the final preparations of the new fleet of vehicles for London ahead of the 2012 Olympics. Dr Simon Iwnicki and Adam Bevan of the Rail Technology Unit in the Department of Engineering and Technology have used computer techniques developed at MMU to predict wheel wear, taking into account track design, track irregularity, traction forces, wheel-rail friction and speed. | Invited state-of-the-art lectures given by RRUK people at the Vehicle Dynamics conference | 03 September, 2007 |
The International Association of Vehicle System Dynamics (IAVSD) organises a biennial symposium at which a series of invited lectures are used to set the scene. This is the premier international event in the field, and at the most recent symposium (held this year in Berkely, California) two of the five of its state-of-the-art lectures were given by RRUK people:
